About this Project
Pen Paint Prompt aims to be a space for the discussion of the legal challenges, especially in the field of Intellectual and Industrial Property, that we face with the irruption of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The published content will address current legal issues in order to either try to photograph the current state of affairs, or to sketch with a more or less thick brush our opinion on what should be the future in the field.
We are interested in exploring how the integration of AI into IP rights challenges principles that seemed unquestionable until very recently, and whether patches and fixes will suffice, or whether we will have to start again from the ground up to prevent the building from collapsing under its own weight.
In short, and without (obviously) pretending to be an authority on the matter, "café para muy cafeteros".
Why the name "Pen Paint Prompt"?
The name Pen Paint Prompt wants to give a hint of the editorial line of this research project: that AI is one more tool in the arsenal of the artist and the inventor.
The economic incentive that comes with the recognition of IP rights shapes at its convenience all aspects of a capitalist society such as ours, including creation and invention. Just look at the transition from aristocratic salon music to the symphony orchestra, the latter being capable of producing the volume needed to fill a concert hall, which was what the society of a particular era demanded. Therefore, driving the development of AI while respecting the rights of all stakeholders should be one of our priorities in the short term, as the question is not whether or not AI will change our lives, but how it will do so.
About us
We are Lucas Martín Tresànchez and Ferran Farré de Febrer, two colleagues who share the same interest and devotion for the challenges involved in the intersection between IP and AI. This project is the materialization of the coffees we share every Sunday morning.
